MONOLOGUE COACHING

One-on-One Monologue Coaching

Your monologue is the centerpiece of your college arts supplement, BFA or MFA audition. Choosing the right pieces and performing them with depth, physical and intellectual specificity, and range is what separates the students who get callbacks and ultimately accepted to the schools from the hundreds who don't.

Every student works directly with Evelyn. There is no rotation between coaches, so students are able to consistently build on the progress they’ve already made from session to session.

What Monologue Coaching Includes

You can elect to schedule one session with Evelyn in which she can help you with a specific element of your audition or give you a sense of where you are at in your process and what you might need to continue to work on prior to your audition. Or, you can elect to schedule a series of sessions in which Evelyn can guide you through the process from start to finish and anything in between.

Sessions are conducted via Zoom and typically cover:

  • Monologue selection tailored to who you are as an artist, not just what's popular or safe

  • Text analysis that goes beyond surface into the complex dimensions of the piece

  • Performance coaching grounded in technique, specificity of thought, physical life, and genuine moment-to-moment work

  • Classical and contemporary piece preparation, including Shakespeare for students auditioning for programs that require it

  • Targeted, program-specific strategy for each school you are applying to

  • Prescreen and callback preparation

Who This Is For

Monologue coaching is available for high school juniors and seniors preparing BFA auditions and/or college arts supplements, as well as post-college actors preparing MFA auditions. Also, any actors just working to hone their craft outside of following educational pursuits can grow leaps and bounds through monologue work.

What Makes This Different

Most audition coaches can help students rehearse a monologue. What sets Evelyn apart is her ability to guide students through the text from both an intellectual and physical perspective, connecting mind and body in the work. Drawing on her Princeton English training, she approaches text analysis with the same rigor and depth she brings to acting technique. Her students don’t simply perform their monologues well — they make thoughtful, specific choices that reveal how they think, which is exactly what top admissions panels are looking for.

Her training at the Yale School of Drama allows her to bridge deep textual understanding with a dynamic physical approach to performance, incorporating methodologies developed by some of the most influential acting teachers working today. As an active faculty member at Stella Adler, Evelyn also incorporates Active Analysis into her coaching process, encouraging students to discover the work through action, instinct, and physical exploration.

This combination of intellectual rigor, emotional truth, and physical technique has worked for many past students, gaining them admission to programs including Yale, Juilliard, NYU, Carnegie Mellon, and RADA, among others.
